First, as soft-brick molds are lightweight and easy to sculpt, they are selected to be used as the primary frame for encasing this premium mold, ensuring the stability and sturdiness of the entire cast throughout the entire process.

Thin coats of kiln wash and wax resist are subsequently applied on the inner surfaces of the soft-brick molds, acting as a barrier between the glaze and molds, preventing the glaze from seeping into the molds.

These molds are then bound with industrial-grade, 18-gauge steel utility tie wires and shaped to the exact specifications of the statuette, exhibiting the individual intricacies of the fairies’ structures and wings.

Glaze casting is a two-person process, which is based solely on immense cooperation and coordination between the two.

Throughout the process, glaze, made from pre-melted sand, is gradually poured into the soft-brick mold by one person, during which the other person gently rocks the mold from side-to-side, ensuring the glaze coats every intricate dwelling, whilst omitting air-bubbles from the glaze.

Liquid clay, mixed with flux, a component that promotes the complete liquefication of the statuette forming constituents, at a lower melting point during the firing process, is later poured in to form the actual vessel of the entire statuette.

Firing is a process which utilizes extreme heat in kilns to allow glazes and clay bodies to melt. At iLuxury Awards, the casts are warily transferred to the kilns, allowing the constituents of the mold to fully flux.

The molds are left in the kiln, with temperatures of up to 1,200°C, for 15-20 days, as this particular length of time and temperate creates an aesthetic core, which is imperative to the statuette’s shape and size.

To prevent any unnecessary damages, like pinholes or blisters, the vitrification process happens at a gradual pace, as the cooling process affects the color, integrity, and surface of the mold itself.

The length of the oxidation cycle is mainly affected by the type of kiln, and may vary between a few hours to a few days. Based on the kilns used by iLuxury Awards, the cooling cycle, referred to as the oxidation cycle, is completed within just a few hours after the kiln is turned off.

One of the most important aspects is the fine-tuning techniques, embellishing the statuette with a premium feel and touch that would leave you in awe.

To make the colors of the statuette pop, gloss laminate is used, which also smoothens the surfaces and enables the reflection of light. On top of that, the polishing is completed by hand throughout, without unnecessary pressures, creating an ultra- smooth and scratch-free surface.

The fine-tuning process produces a mirror-like surface, which may be prone to light scuffs via light touches. Therefore, the packaging process is all conducted with the use of cotton gloves, to avoid micro-scratches.

The statuettes are packed in a premium custom-made box, specifically customized to encapsulate the statuette’s size, weight, and width in its entirety. The packaging is lined with sponge foam interiors, professionally creating a shock-absorbent inlay that protects the statuette during the entire shipping process.
