Programs through practices that include a plant-conscious diet, on-site certified organic garden, water and land preservation efforts and education. In serving an exclusively plant-based diet, The Ranch contributes to the conservation of water, land, grain and CO2 that is needed for diets that include animal products. Using regenerative organic agriculture, The Ranch grows an abundance of fruits & vegetables for its programs on a 2+ acre garden without the use of synthetic chemicals. Instead, the focus is on soil health to optimize the development, nutrients, and flavor of ingredients. This also eliminates the need to transport large amounts of food to the property. On-site bee colonies further assist in keeping the garden healthy, while producing about 500 lbs. of honey each year. As a part of The Ranch’s “closed system” waste program, scraps are fed to the resident goats and chickens, while the rest is added to compost tumblers. Any food not used by the programs is donated to local food banks. Water and land preservation efforts include an on-site tertiary wastewater treatment plant that allows the reuse 100% of the grey water, and significant funding and maintenance of local trails. The team also educates guests on how to live sustainably at a personal level so that they can incorporate these practices into their life and share these tools with friends and family.
