Located on Ren’ai Road in Taipei, the project is a residence tailored for a well-traveled couple who frequently move between international destinations and hold a deep appreciation for Middle Eastern aesthetics. After visiting numerous countries, the homeowners became particularly captivated by the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, whose Islamic architectural language blends opulence, mystery, and refinement. Drawing from this inspiration, the designer translates iconic Islamic geometric patterns and the symbolic tulip motif into interior design language, recreating within the bustling city a modern palace infused with exotic elegance. The most breathtaking feature is the geometric domed ceiling that spans the social area. Inspired by Islamic lattice patterns, the designer embeds custom-cut sapphire-blue crystal elements at each node, integrating them with a fully intelligent fiber-optic lighting system. The ceiling can thus perform dynamic color transitions, softly fading through a spectrum of hues. The living room’s main wall cabinetry is finished with hand-applied gold and silver leaf. Decorative columns at the base and top are crafted from FRP, embedded with blue crystals and 10 cm crystal spheres, with concealed LED lighting that echoes the fiber-optic ceiling and can be synchronized through a smart system. The TV wall embodies a fusion of craftsmanship and technology. A massive rose-shaped door, sculpted by the designer and weighing over 100 kilograms, is clad with hand-applied glass fragments that follow its curved surface. When activated, the sculptural rose panel and mosaic wall glide smoothly into the wall like a stage curtain, presenting a dynamic interplay between technology and sculptural art.
